In a Monday hearing at the Adiala Jail, an accountability court judge, Muhammad Bashir, rejected the physical remand plea of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested an extension of Khan’s physical remand, which was met with opposition from his lawyer, Latif Khosa.
After considering the arguments from both sides, Judge Muhammad Bashir ruled against extending the physical remand. Instead, he issued a 14-day judicial remand for the former prime minister. This decision marks a critical turn in the ongoing legal proceedings.
This case is part of a broader investigation by the NAB. The charges allege that Imran Khan, along with his wife and others, illegally acquired hundreds of canals of land under the guise of Al Qadir University Trust.
This act reportedly led to a significant financial loss to the national exchequer, estimated at around 190 million pounds. The former prime minister is also seeking bail from the Supreme Court in this case, adding another layer to the ongoing legal complexities.
