The retired cricketer-turned-politcical leader of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, said yesterday that he was ready to repose trust in a Supreme Court led inquiry commission that could complete its investigation into the alleged ‘vote fraud’ within a month.
“We don’t want a long-drawn-out investigation. It shouldn’t take 3-4 months before the committee reaches the bottom of the matter. The probe should be fast-track”, Khan said delivering his daily speech at this party’s Islamabad protest sit-in.
Looking to the higher judiciary as a” rescuer of the last resort”, Khan insisted that Supreme Court of Pakistan and not Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would serve the justice his party had been being denied for the last 17 months.
“In order to serve justice, the judiciary should be self-directed and unprejudiced”, said Khan vowing to launch a nationwide movement for the supremacy of independent judicature.
