On Thursday, May 29, 2025, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan firmly rejected any “give and take” formula to resolve his legal challenges, emphasising negotiations only for the country’s benefit.
The statement, relayed by PTI leader Ali Zafar after a meeting at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, followed a visit from former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, who reportedly urged Khan to create “political space” for the party, according to Dawn.
Khan’s Stance on Negotiations
Speaking to the media after a May 9 case hearing, Barrister Zafar quoted Khan as saying, “I’m willing to talk, but only in the best interest of the country, not for personal gain.” Khan dismissed the idea of seeking personal favours, stating he could have secured them long ago if desired. The Imran Khan deal rejection counters earlier comments by his sister, Aleema Khan, who suggested negotiating with “unseen forces” allegedly influencing legal proceedings against him.

Fawad Chaudhry’s visit signals efforts to navigate the PTI’s challenges amid Khan’s incarceration. Zafar clarified that Khan is open to discussions with the establishment but solely for Pakistan’s welfare, highlighting the PTI’s focus on negotiations. Aleema’s claims of judicial pressure underscore the contentious political climate surrounding the Pakistani political crisis.
Khan’s refusal to compromise for personal relief reinforces his stance as a principled leader, resonating with PTI supporters. The outcomes of the Adiala Jail meeting could shape PTI’s strategy and influence Pakistan’s political landscape as legal battles continue.
