Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has directed the expulsion of Sher Afzal Marwat, a National Assembly (MNA) member, from the party.
PTI leadership has decided to revoke Marwat’s basic membership following complaints from senior leaders regarding his conduct at a recent rally in Swabi. Imran Khan has instructed key party figures to proceed with his expulsion, and a formal notification is expected soon. Additionally, PTI is set to demand his resignation from the National Assembly.
Last month, the PTI issued a show-cause notice to Marwat for violating party discipline. The leadership, led by Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, reprimanded him for making statements contradicting the party’s official stance. Until he responded to the notice, he was barred from representing the PTI in the media.
The notice, issued under Imran Khan’s direction, highlighted Marwat’s repeated violations of party policy and warned him to exercise caution in his statements. He was given seven days to submit his response.
