The former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has announced his party will resign from all assemblies.
“We shall not participate in the political system of this country. “We have decided to leave all assemblies,” the former prime minister announced while addressing party members and supporters at Rawalpindi Jalsa.
Imran Khan stated that his party did not travel to Islamabad to prevent devastation and anarchy. “After talking with chief ministers and the parliamentary party, I will announce the date of resignations,” he declared.
It is important to note that Imran Khan’s party rules the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province and is also in power in Punjab via a coalition with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
The former prime minister began his speech by urging party members and supporters to overcome their fear of death if they desired to live freely.
Imran Khan stated, about the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), that the people of Kufa did not come to his aid out of fear of retaliation from the government. “Fear transforms a nation into slaves.”
The former prime minister stated that everyone warned him not to leave Rawalpindi owing to his wounded leg and the threats he faced.
He asserted that “three criminals” – those he blames for the Wazirabad incident — were preparing another assassination attempt. He stated that he had a close encounter with death and urged the assembled crowd to strengthen their faith.
