Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has announced to hold a “historical” public gathering at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan on March 19.
On Monday, he addressed the crowd at an election rally in Lahore near Data Darbar while riding in an armored vehicle.
The former prime minister, who was removed from power by a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly in April of last year, held an electoral rally in the capital city of Punjab this morning despite tight security and arrest threats.
As a result of Punjab’s interim govt imposed Section 144, the former ruling party had twice postponed the launch of its election campaign during the previous week; however, it had announced that it would begin today.
Under the pretense of security, the PTI chairman has been demanding court appearance exemptions, and this is a proper place to disclose it.
Earlier Monday, a police squad from Islamabad traveled by helicopter to Lahore to arrest Khan concerning a judge-threatening case.
During his remarks to the crowd, the former prime minister declared: “I will host a jalsa at Minar-e-Pakistan at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 19. We must all collaborate to tackle this challenge “.
Khan criticized the leadership of the ruling alliance, stating that the government’s release of the Toshakhana report the previous day had exposed them.
Regarding the Toshakhana issue, Imran Khan asserted that the leadership of the country’s ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had aggressively criticized him and attempted to assassinate his character. He stated that the “record has revealed them.”
He continued that a “band of robbers” had seized control of the nation.
He urged the people to join the party’s struggle, stating that the nation must rise for “true independence” and “thieves’ responsibility.”
The deposed premier was granted permission to host the election rally the day before after meeting with the local authority. The city administration granted permission to the PTI after the party’s leadership agreed to comply with government directives. In an affidavit presented to the city administration, their full cooperation with them, the police, and the security officers was assured.
Also, the former ruling party assured the authority that it would adhere to the applicable law regarding proper system usage. Furthermore, the PTI agreed that remarks critical of state institutions and the judiciary would be prohibited at the event.
The document claimed that the PTI would be responsible for any damage to public property during the event.
