Islamabad: Three-member joint investigation team (JIT) formed by the federal government to interrogate the alleged suspects in Imran Farooq murder case held meeting with two-member team of Scotland Yard late yesterday.

The British investigators landed in the federal capital on Monday to probe one of the key suspects involved in the case of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq’s murder.

The investigators from the two countries exchanged details regarding the assassination of Imran Farooq.

The JIT is headed by Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Director Islamabad Inam Ghani. Police and intelligence agencies also have representation in the investigation team.

The JIT will formally embark on its mandated assignment from today, as three suspects—Moazzam Ali, Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali Syed—have been transferred into FIA custody for 90 days.

The British team that will stay in Pakistan for a week, continued its probe with the main suspect Moazzam Ali.

Meantime, Pakistan’s investigator SSP Islamabad Sajid Kayani is currently in Britain where he is taking stock of the investigations by Scotland Yard in connection with Imran Farooq’s murder.
