Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, Saturday, demanded that Geo News should apologise to the nation over ‘baseless’ allegations against Pakistan Army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), local media reported.

Khan alleged that Geo News launched an all out smear campaign against Pakistan Army and ISI at a time when Pakistan faces both internal and external security threats.

In a statement issued by PTI’s central media cell, Imran Khan said that, “Geo News’s campaign against state institutions without evidence is not acceptable,” adding that Geo has gone too far in its campaign against the Pakistan Army.

He alleged that armed forces personnel are being discouraged through the campaign. Imran Khan also termed the federal government’s silence over Geo News allegations condemnable.

He demanded Geo News should apologise to the whole nation immediately. He also said that “what was done with army and ISI is something even an enemy wouldn’t do.”

It should be noticed that Imran Khan had not lodged such a strong protest when PTI’s ally in the KP assembly the JI though its leader, Munawar Hasan had stated that the “shaheeds” of the army who died while fighting terrorists were not worthy of the title “shaheed”
