The Islamabad High Court (IHC) upheld the death sentence of convicted Noor Mukad murderer Zahir Jaffer.
The judgment was rendered by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Ijaz Ishaq Khan and was to remain in effect until December 21, 2022. Zahir Jaffer was also sentenced to death by the court in the rape case. Furthermore affirmed was the 10-year prison sentence granted to accomplices Iftihar and Jan Muhammed.
Noor Mukadam was discovered brutally killed in the posh F-7/4 neighborhood of Islamabad on July 20, 2021. After discovering her body, Jeffers was arrested as the major suspect.
On February 24, 2022, the Islamabad Sessions Court condemned Zaheer Jaffer to death for the murders of his employee night watchman Muhammad Iftikhar and gardener, Muhammad Muqeeb. Muhammad Jan was given a 10-year sentence for assisting and abetting murder. However, Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani forgave his parents, Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamji, and other suspects, including Therapy Works employees, of involvement allegations.
Zahir was condemned to death by the summary judgment under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) (willful murder). However, confirmation of the death sentence is pending from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
