The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has overturned the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s decision to replace Election Tribunal judge Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq presided over the case and delivered the reserved verdict. The IHC has remanded the case to the ECP, instructing it to revisit the decision. The ECP’s replacement of Justice Jahangiri with a retired judge was contested by PTI leaders Shoaib Shaheen, Aamir Mughal, and Ali Bukhari.
Previously, the ECP had granted requests from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MNAs to reassign the election tribunal for all three Islamabad constituencies.

A four-member panel, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja, announced this decision.
The panel upheld submissions from Khurram Nawaz, Anjum Aqeel, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who argued the tribunal lacked impartiality. All three were elected representatives from Islamabad.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Court originally led the tribunal.
In the February 8 general elections, PML-N candidates won all three National Assembly seats in the federal capital territory.
