The ACT AI course Pakistan application process is now open as the government launches a free eight-week artificial intelligence training programme across 100 universities.
The Prime Minister’s Office formally launched the Awareness, Competency & Tools initiative, or ACT AI, through a Memorandum of Understanding.
Students can now register through the official portal, and the first cohort is set to begin training in the coming weeks. Those interested can apply online through the ACT AI registration platform.
Universities across Pakistan have already appointed focal persons to support the process and guide applicants. The programme welcomes students from a wide range of academic disciplines, not just computer science. It will reach about 100 universities across all provinces, as well as Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

ACT AI is free and aims to train up to 6,000 students in each cohort. The initiative also prioritises inclusivity and targets equal participation by men and women. The programme uses an intensive, competency-based model that emphasises practical, job-ready skills.
Students will study generative AI, automation, AI productivity tools, and real-world applications across multiple sectors. The curriculum focuses on AI foundations, economic applications, and workforce readiness for the future.
Instructors in Islamabad will lead live synchronised classes through the HEC Smart Classroom network. This setup allows participating universities across the country to receive consistent, high-quality instruction. The programme will run in two-month cycles so multiple cohorts can take part over time.
Several key institutions are leading the ACT AI initiative, including the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, NAVTTC, and the Higher Education Commission. AI Skill Bridge, with support from AXI Technologies, will oversee programme delivery, including curriculum design and student engagement. NAVTTC will align the initiative with national skills policies, while HEC will provide access through its university network. Together, these partners aim to equip Pakistani youth with the skills they need for employment, freelancing, and entrepreneurship in the global digital economy.
By expanding access to AI education, the initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s position in emerging technology sectors.
