Housefull 5, the fifth instalment in the beloved comedy franchise, continues its strong run at the Indian box office, grossing ₹87 crore nett in its first three days since its June 6, 2025, release.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the star-studded film earned ₹32 crore on its first Sunday, June 8, according to Sacnilk, pushing it close to the ₹100 crore mark.
On day three, “Housefull 5” achieved a Hindi occupancy rate of 39.52%, with evening shows peaking at 54.77%, indicating a strong audience turnout, according to Sacnilk. The film earned ₹24 crore on its first day, ₹31 crore on the second day, and ₹32 crore on the third day, boosted by the Eid-ul-Adha holiday and positive word-of-mouth. Adarsh emphasised the film’s “critic-proof” appeal and predicted a weekend total of nearly ₹90 crore.

The film’s ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar as Julius, Abhishek Bachchan as Jalbhushan, Riteish Deshmukh as Jalaluddin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Sanjay Dut, drives its chaotic whodunit plot set on a luxury cruise.
Competing and Overcoming Challenges
Despite mixed reviews, with some netizens on X calling it a “mind-boggling mess,” Housefull 5 outperformed Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life (₹31.26 crore in three days) and Akshay’s earlier 2025 release, Kesari Chapter 2 (₹7.75 crore opening). Made on a ₹225 crore budget, the film needs ₹450 crore to break even but is on track to hit ₹100 crore by Monday, per Business Today.
Akshay Kumar’s undercover visit to a Bandra theatre, disguised in a “killer mask,” underscored the film’s fan appeal. Audiences praised its humour and dance sequences.
With over 5,000 global screens and strong overseas performance, Housefull 5 is poised for a record-breaking run, potentially becoming Akshay’s biggest 2025 hit.
