A high-profile suspect linked to the banned organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Mairaj alias Mama, has been apprehended in Lyari.
According to DIG South Karachi, Asad Raza revealed that the suspect, known as Mairaj alias Mama, played a critical role in the reconnaissance operations for the outlawed group.
DIG Raza was notably involved in collecting intelligence for BLA Commander Jalal and contributed significantly to the planning and executing attacks against security forces. Mairaj was instrumental in providing actionable intelligence, which was used to orchestrate several attacks,” stated DIG Raza.
One such incident involved the surveillance of a military vehicle in 2017 en route from Turbat to Gwadar. This reconnaissance enabled a targeted attack on the vehicle.
Additionally, Mairaj gathered critical information on a military camp located in Nasirabad, Balochistan, which subsequently came under attack, leading to the loss of law enforcement personnel.
DIG Raza further disclosed that Mairaj’s activities extended to civilian targets, including an incident where four cousins of an intelligence officer were murdered as a direct result of the information he collected.
The scope of Mairaj’s involvement with the BLA also included surveillance and attacks on significant infrastructure, such as the Gwadar and Pakistan Navy airports, as well as an attack on military personnel in Nushki.
