Babar Azam, leading Peshawar Zalmi, voiced confidence in his team’s batting prowess. “Our lineup is strong, promising better performance,” he stated, highlighting robust match preparations. Similarly, Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan expressed optimism, focusing on the draft’s success in building a formidable team. Lahore Qalandars’ Shaheen Afridi trusted young talents, indicating a strategy leveraging emerging players for impactful performances.
Gearing Up for the Tournament
The HBL PSL 9 kicks off on February 17 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with excitement mounting for the nine matches slated there. Following the opening ceremony, Lahore Qalandars will face Islamabad United in the first game, igniting the series of contests. Teams, including Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Islamabad United, have begun their practice sessions in Lahore, signalling their preparedness for the tournament.
The Orion Trophy, symbolizing cricket excellence, was introduced in a unique ceremony. Crafted from pure silver with white gold plating, this trophy is a testament to the league’s spirit and excellence. Over 900 hours of labour and the placement of 18,000 stones went into its creation, making it a beacon of motivation for the teams.
