On Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the cancellation of Haris Rauf’s central contract with the national cricket team. This action follows an investigation into Rauf’s decision not to participate in the 2023-24 Australia tour Test squad.
A specialized committee established by the PCB undertook a detailed review and hearing on the issue, incorporating all stakeholders’ feedback.
The PCB’s statement highlighted that effective December 1, 2023, Rauf’s central contract would be nullified, and he would be ineligible to receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for playing in any international leagues until June 30, 2024.
This measure was taken after giving Rauf an opportunity for a personal hearing on January 30, 2024, to present his case. However, his explanations were judged to be inadequate by the PCB management, adhering to the principles of fair justice.
The PCB stated that any refusal to join the national Test squad without a medical justification or valid reason directly breaches the terms of the central contract.
