Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and former senator, passed away on Wednesday after a prolonged battle with a kidney-related illness. His family confirmed that he breathed his last at his residence in Quetta.
The JUI-F also expressed deep sorrow over his demise, calling it a significant loss for the party. Hafiz Hussain Ahmed was a prominent figure in Pakistan’s religious and political landscape, known for his contributions to the party and his reconciliation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in December 2022.
Media reports indicate that Hafiz Hussain Ahmed has been suffering from kidney disease for some time. His family stated that he will be laid to rest in his ancestral hometown, with details regarding his funeral prayers to be announced later.
Due to internal differences, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed had previously distanced himself from the JUI-F. However, he rejoined the party in December 2022 after reconciling with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the party’s chief. His return was a significant moment for the party, strengthening its leadership and unity.
