A gunman committed suicide after killing three women of a family on Wednesday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the shooter opened fire on a car, killing three women near the Qaddafi Stadium.
According to initial police reports, the shooter identified as Bashir, opened fire on a car, killing two sisters, Maira and Naila. In contrast, their mother sustained serious injuries and passed away while in transit to the hospital. After riddling the occupants with bullets, Bahsir then shot himself in the head. He died on the spot.
As for motive of the triple murder, the police suspect the fatal assault to be an upshot of a feud between two families over a likely rejected marriage proposal or a love affair that turned violent.
According to Umer Virk, Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Central Investigation Agency (CIA), “The fathers of the shooter and the deceased girls are friends. Also, the mobile phone data has revealed that the deceased Khadija (the mother) had sent a text message to his son before or by the time of the shooting,”
Virk further said that forensics experts would be engaged to get to the bottom of the case.
