Microsoft dropped a bombshell on Thursday: Grand Theft Auto 5 will launch on Xbox Game Pass on April 15.
The highly anticipated open-world game is now available on the subscription service, and its Enhanced version of GTA 5 is exclusive to PC Game Pass. Released on PC on March 4, the Enhanced edition features console-grade upgrades like ray tracing, AI upscaling, and new GTA Online content previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
Game Pass Ultimate, Standard, and PC subscribers can access the game at no additional cost. The enhanced PC version boasts impressive graphical improvements, including ambient occlusion and global illumination, and support for AMD FSR1/FSR3 and Nvidia DLSS 3. Additionally, it unlocks exclusive GTA Online content such as new vehicles, Chameleon Paints, and upgrades from Hao’s Special Works. According to Xbox Wire, “Everyone gets Oscar Guzman Flies Again,” which includes arms trafficking missions and new aircraft available at McKenzie Field Hanger.

For GTA Online squad-ups, version matters. Ultimate and Standard members access all editions across console and PC, syncing easily with friends. PC Game Pass users can pick standard or Enhanced, even linking with Steam or Epic Games pals. Microsoft’s keeping the multiplayer vibe smooth.
April’s Game Pass lineup shines brighter with this addition. Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition hit consoles, PC, and cloud on April 3, joined by All You Need is Help, Still Wakes the Deep, and Wargroove 2 on Thursday.
Next week, South of Midnight and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls will be released on April 8, followed by the day-one releases of Commandos: Origins on April 9 and Blue Prince on April 10. The month will conclude with Hunt Showdown 1896 launching on April 15 for PC, with console and cloud versions set to follow soon after.
