Green Peoples Bus Service Turbat has launched as the Balochistan government moves to improve public transport with safer, more comfortable and more efficient travel options for local residents.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti inaugurated the service at the Circuit House in Turbat. With this step, Turbat becomes the second city in Balochistan, after Quetta, to receive the modern transport system.
Bugti described the project as an important move for urban mobility in the province. He said the service will support not only people living in Turbat, but also residents across Kech District.
Green People’s Bus Service Turbat begins with four buses
Officials said the first phase includes four buses for the city. Each bus has seating for 37 passengers and can carry up to 100 people, including standing commuters.
Authorities plan to build 18 bus stations along a 19-kilometre route linking Turbat with nearby suburban areas. They expect the service to carry around 4,500 passengers each day.
The buses include designated seating for women, children and senior citizens. They also offer wheelchair access, emergency exits, fire extinguishers and automatic hydraulic doors. Digital screens inside and outside the vehicles display route and bus information.
The chief minister also said the government will soon introduce a Pink Bus Service for women. That plan aims to make daily travel safer and more convenient for female passengers.

Officials have not yet finalised routes and fares. However, they said they will make those decisions after further assessment. They are also considering a proposal to offer free travel during the first two years of the service.
The new bus system signals a broader effort to modernise transport in Balochistan and improve daily mobility in Turbat and nearby areas.
