The government has decided in principle to appoint justice (retired) Rana Bhagwandas as new chief Election Commission of Paksitan.
According to sources, the opposition parties and the government have agreed on appointing Bhagwandas as the new CEC. Pakistan People’s Party leader Raza Rabbani has been tasked with convincing Justice Bhagwandas to accept the post.
While Khursheed Shah will also meet the retired justice once Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returns to Pakistan from China.
It may be noted here that Mr. Bhagwandas had earlier apologized from accepting any such position, without mentioning any reasons.
