In a stern move against rampant smuggling, hoarding, and the harbouring of illegal immigrants in Pakistan, the Caretaker Interior Minister, Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti, announced introducing a reward system. This system incentivises the general populace to identify and report these unlawful activities actively. During a press conference held in Islamabad alongside the Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting,
Bugti revealed that ongoing operations target the smuggling of various commodities, including wheat, sugar, urea, and dollars. These efforts have already resulted in the recovery of thousands of metric tons of sugar and urea from different regions of the country. Shockingly, he pointed out, the smuggling networks have also begun to hoard these commodities. Additionally, the Minister conveyed that stern action would also be extended to illegal immigrants residing in the country, with details of the reward system for information on this matter to be disclosed shortly.
Regarding concerns over terrorist infiltrations from Afghanistan, Bugti called upon the Afghan government to adhere strictly to the Doha Agreement’s provisions, which prohibits using Afghan territory for aggressive actions against any nation.
Ensuring Safety and Upholding Law and Order
In a related development, Minister Bugti confirmed that the government is mobilizing all available resources to secure the release of six local footballers who were abducted from the Sui Tehsil of Dera Bugti. This operation commenced on Saturday and is part of a wider government initiative to maintain law and order within the nation. He expressed his steadfast resolve and pledged not to rest until the hostages were safely recovered, highlighting the government’s dedication to protecting its citizens and ensuring regional stability.
