Google has temporarily halted the services of purchase of paid apps in Pakistan due to non-payment of outstanding dues from the SBP.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT) informed on Friday that Google had stopped purchasing paid apps due to non-payment of outstanding dues after the central bank shut down the payment mechanism.
The MoITT has assured that the suspension would be temporary.
Despite repeated assurances from the IT minister, Aminul Haque, Google has stopped the services.
The Ministry of Finance authorized the release of hold payments to international service providers, including Google.
During the suspension, customers can only download paid apps through credit cards from the Google Play Store.
The issue will be rectified in two weeks, according to IT ministry officials.
