In Hub, Balochistan, the local goods transporters have initiated a strike and a protest against the alleged injustices they encounter at various national highway checkpoints.
The Balochistan Goods Transporters Alliance has reported that numerous checkpoints have severely hindered their operations, prompting them to park hundreds of vehicles and announce a complete operational shutdown starting tomorrow.
The transporters have voiced discontent with current affairs, highlighting that checkpoint personnel frequently harass and demand bribes. Failure to comply with these demands often results in prolonged, unnecessary vehicle detentions.
Transporters have issued a stark warning that if their grievances are not addressed, they will cease transporting all goods, including essential food items, potentially leading to widespread supply disruptions.
Additionally, the situation in Balochistan further escalated following a violent incident in the Duki area, where unknown assailants attacked trucks transporting coal to Punjab via the Sanjawi Passrah Tangi route. This attack resulted in the death of one driver and injuries to several others, with multiple trucks also being set ablaze. To date, no group has claimed responsibility for this act of violence, and the attack has led to the suspension of further truck movements in the region.
