Goo Goo Dolls have confirmed their Canadian tour cancellation status for the rest of their Spring 2026 run after frontman John Rzeznik was diagnosed with pneumonia.
The band shared the update in a social media statement on Sunday, February 5, saying they could no longer continue the remaining dates because Rzeznik had not fully recovered. The announcement came after several postponements earlier in the week.
According to the statement, the band said they were “very disappointed” and hoped to return to Canada as soon as possible. Rzeznik, the group’s lead vocalist and guitarist, had already been unwell during the tour. Although the band remained hopeful they could continue, his condition reportedly worsened, leading to the cancellation of all remaining shows.
The cancelled dates included stops in Laval, Quebec, and Halifax. Earlier in the week, Goo Goo Dolls had also called off performances in Sault Ste. Marie, Oshawa, and Hamilton. At that stage, the band had not yet ruled out continuing the rest of the tour.
Fans who already bought tickets will receive full refunds at the point of purchase. That refund update was included in the band’s announcement, offering some clarity for concertgoers affected by the sudden change.
Just one day before the full cancellation was announced, Goo Goo Dolls performed in London, Ontario. However, several concertgoers reportedly noticed that Rzeznik, 60, did not appear well during the performance. That added to concerns after multiple earlier cancellations across the tour.
The cancellation brings an abrupt end to the band’s Spring 2026 Canadian Tour, which had already been disrupted by Rzeznik’s health. For now, the group has not announced replacement dates. Still, the band said they are eager to return to Canada once Rzeznik has fully recovered.
