Google, a US-based search engine giant, experienced a global outage on Friday, affecting millions of users. The problems began showing on Down Detector around 8 a.m. ET and users worldwide encountered issues.
The outlet reported that 63% of users faced issues with the website, 33% had search problems, and a few reported disturbances in Maps.
Users took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their experiences. One user posted a screenshot of a Google Search for “British army,” showing the message: “Your search — British army — did not match any news results.”
Google News users also received alerts such as “Uh-oh, something went wrong. Please try again” and “There are no items to show.”
In 2021, Google reported having over 4.9 billion active users. This recent disruption follows a month after the company experienced similar issues with its services.
