Olympic champions Germany defeated South Africa by 4-0 after a one-sided competition at the Kyocera Stadium on Sunday.

Germany displayed outstanding skills from the very beginning of the game with their attacking approach. In the 27th minute of first half Christopher Zeller converted a penalty stroke to a goal.

Thilo Stralkowski increased the lead just seconds before half-time with a strike in the open play.

Mats Grambusch in 56th minute and Oliver Korn in 59th minute posted two more goals to launch the German campaign with pull points in the first Group B outing.

Two more matches were played yesterday in which Netherlands beat Argentina by 3-1 while New Zealand defeated Korea by 1-0.
