Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif expressed his concern at the recent US drone strike which liquidated Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour.

The army chief said this in a meeting with United States ambassador Mr David Hale, where the drone strike issue came under discussion.

“Ambassador of US Mr David Hale visited GHQ and called on COAS, General Raheel Sharif today. The situation arising after US drone strike in Balochistan on 22 May 2016 came under discussion. While expressing his serious concerns over the said drone strike, COAS said such acts of sovereignty violations are detrimental to relations between both countries and are counter-productive for ongoing peace process for regional stability,” read a post on the ISPR’s website.

In the meeting with the American ambassador, the army chief also stated that Pakistan’s successes, sacrifices and efforts in the war against terrorism were unparalleled

Earlier yesterday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had also voiced his displeasure at the United States drone strike which reportedly killed Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour. Pakistan Foreign Office had also protested against the attack and claimed that it was an attack on the country’s sovereignty.
