Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, accentuated the critical role a robust economy plays in maintaining an impregnable defence mechanism in a statement issued on Wednesday. He underscored the necessity for symbiotic cooperation to further economic development within the nation, which serves as a cornerstone for a stalwart defence structure.

On Defence and Martyrs’ Day, the army chief praised the Pakistan Army’s prudent and patient response to these nefarious attempts to fracture this integral bond.

General Munir extended his reflections to emphasize the unbreakable bond and mutual trust between the military and the populace, describing it as an invaluable asset. He noted that the commemoration of Defence and Martyrs’ Day is a significant marker in the country’s national and military narratives, a day to remember the supreme sacrifices rendered by the armed forces.

Reflecting on the historical events surrounding the conflict of 1965, Gen Munir lauded the gallantry and adept expertise displayed by the armed forces in counteracting Indian advancements during the war. He added that the unity and genuine solidarity exhibited by the nation during those tumultuous times played a pivotal role in deterring the adversary’s advances, thereby safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

The Global Standing of the Pakistan Army

Drawing attention to the global sphere, General Munir highlighted the Pakistan Army’s distinct position on the world stage, a status carved out through unwavering discipline and the highest levels of professional excellence. He further emphasized that the army remains on perpetual vigilance, prepared to retaliate against any provocations or aggressions from foes with full might.

Reiterating the devout commitment that resonates within every officer and soldier in the Pakistan Army, he affirmed that their utmost priority is prioritising the country’s defence even over their own lives. He praised the ghazis’ martyrdoms and victories as shining examples for the nation, illuminating paths of valour and resilience.

In concluding remarks, COAS Asim Munir paid a heartfelt tribute to the unprecedented courage demonstrated by the armed forces in their relentless fight against terrorism, a testament to their undying commitment to securing a peaceful and prosperous future for Pakistan.
