Professor Dr Akbar Cheema of Government College University (GCU) Lahore was shot dead Wednesday morning while resisting an armed robbery.
According to police, Professor Cheema was travelling in his car when armed robbers stopped him near Kalma Chowk and on resistance professor Cheema was shot dead.
The suspects fled the scene after the shooting.
Police transferred the deceased professor’s body to hospital for post-mortem and have launched an investigation into the incident.
Dr Cheema was a professor at the GCU’s Botany Department.
