A Game of Thrones movie in development at Warner Bros. could bring the fantasy franchise to the big screen for the first time.
According to a March 3 report, Beau Willimon, known for House of Cards and Andor, is attached to the project and has already submitted a draft.
While official details remain limited, the reported focus is on Aegon I Targaryen, the legendary conqueror who founded the Targaryen dynasty.
The character has not appeared on screen before, though his legacy shaped major figures in the HBO series, including Daenerys Targaryen. No director has been named, and no cast has been announced.
The film’s progress may depend on broader corporate developments. Warner Bros. is currently being sold to Paramount and Skydance.
If the merger proceeds, new leadership could review projects in development. However, Game of Thrones remains one of the studio’s most valuable properties.

Paramount CEO David Ellison has pledged to release 30 films theatrically once the companies combine, potentially positioning major franchises at the centre of that strategy.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling novels, the original HBO series ran for eight seasons and earned widespread acclaim.
Its universe continues through spinoffs such as House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. If greenlit, a film centred on Aegon’s conquest would mark the franchise’s first theatrical release.
