Consumers across Pakistan can expect significant relief, with petroleum product prices projected to decrease by up to Rs. 12 per litre starting December 16, 2024. Based on calculations from relevant authorities, the proposal is currently awaiting final government approval.
This expected price adjustment is intended to alleviate financial strain on citizens and key economic sectors. The proposed reductions, detailed below, follow a previous cut enacted on November 30.
Proposed Per-Litre Price Reductions from December 16, 2025. According to official data, the anticipated cuts are as follows:
- High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Decrease of Rs. 11.85
- Kerosene Oil: Decrease of Rs. 11.70
- Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Decrease of Rs. 10.01
- Petrol: Decrease of Rs. 0.36
Projected New Prices Post-Reduction
If approved, the new ex-depot prices effective December 16 will be:
- Petrol: Rs. 263.09 per litre
- High-Speed Diesel: Rs. 267.80 per litre
- Kerosene Oil: Rs. 181.16 per litre
- Light Diesel Oil: Rs. 153.76 per litre
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is mandated to submit a formal summary of the proposed fuel price cut to the federal government on December 15. Following review and the Prime Minister’s consent, the Petroleum Division will issue an official notification to enact the new pricing structure.
