Sky News Australia host Freya Leach, 22, apologised after a guest made an offensive anti-Islam rant during her new show, Freya Fires Up.
Ryan Williams, who was introduced as a conservative strategist, was expected to discuss the assassination of Charlie Kirk. However, he instead launched into a tirade about an “Islamic invasion” in the UK, claiming that Birmingham has a Muslim majority. During the broadcast, Williams wore strips of bacon on his shoulders, asserting that this protected him from “terrorists threatening to behead me.”

Leach cut off Williams during the show. She later apologised, saying, “I’ve just been told we have to apologise for what was just aired.” Sky News removed the content from all platforms. A spokesperson called Williams’s remarks “wholly inappropriate” and added that Williams “should never have appeared” on the program.
Sky News has initiated a review of “Freya Fires Up,” focusing on the guest booking and vetting procedures. Leach also hosts “Late Debate” on Sky. This incident has raised concerns about the network’s editorial standards.
Williams, who has 243,000 Instagram followers, frequently posts anti-Islam content. He openly calls for “maximum damage to Islam” and promotes a “Christian Europe.” Regularly appearing draped in bacon, one of his interviews received 116,000 likes on Instagram before it spread online despite Sky’s removal.
The rant highlights the risks of booking live TV guests without thorough vetting. It sparked widespread backlash over hate speech. The apology and review underline the need for accountability and affect Sky News’s relationship with its audience.
