Mardan : At least four people were killed while seven others were injured in Mardan on Friday when a scuffle broke out during a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally.

Officials privy to the development  said the scuffle broke out between workers of Awami National Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Hoti Ala Dad Khel.

“A disagreement arose between ANP and PTI workers,” an official said. “As a result, both side pulled out pistols and opened fire on each other.”

Tehsil council member Mohmand Khan was among those who succumbed to their injuries.

“The others have been identified as Akram Wali Ghani, Shah Jahan Arif, Qasim Walid Bakhtiar,” he said. “The injured have been identified as Bilal, Aslam, Javed, Shah Jahan, Asim, Mubashir and Daud.”

The injured were rushed to the hospital.

As the news of the incident spread like wildfire, a wave of panic spread through the district.

Mardan DPO Faisal Shahzad said, the situation is under control and the police have arrested four people in connection with the incident. However, an FIR has yet to be registered against the incident.
