The federal government announced on Thursday a five-day holiday to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, the highly anticipated Muslim festival marking the end of the holy fasting month.
The Cabinet Division recommended the holiday period, which will run from April 21 to April 25. The Ministry of Interior will issue an official notification for the Eid holidays.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee plans to convene on April 20 to sight the Eid ul Fitr crescent moon, as stated by the religious affairs ministry on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at the religious affairs ministry in Islamabad, chaired by Ruet-e-Halal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. In addition, zonal committee meetings will take place at designated locations throughout the country.
Following initial confusion during the moonsighting meeting, Ramadan 2023 began on March 23.
