Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the critical importance of digitizing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to boost transparency and efficiency in tax collection.
During the Finance Minister’s visit to the FBR Headquarters in Islamabad, FBR Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana warmly welcomed. The meeting was focused on the necessity of digitization to improve the tax system’s performance and outline future directions.
The minister outlined plans to enhance tax revenue, including refining FBR governance, thoroughly documenting the economy, and implementing full-scale digitization.
A key strategy under consideration is to expand the tax base to include sectors such as wholesale/retail, real estate, and agriculture. Minister Aurangzeb advocated for digitization not just as a goal but as a crucial step towards modernizing tax administration and fostering a transparent, equitable tax system that supports economic growth and benefits all citizens.
