The federal government has raised the rental rates for commercial properties leased by federal institutions.
Under this new policy, the rate per square foot in Islamabad and Rawalpindi has increased from Rs80 to Rs180.
The Ministry of Housing and Works has issued a notification outlining the revised rental rates, extending to other major cities across Pakistan.
In Lahore, the rate for commercial buildings has risen from Rs60 to Rs135 per square foot. In Karachi, it has escalated from Rs50 to Rs113 per square foot.
Rates in Peshawar have adjusted from Rs35 to Rs79 per square foot, while in Quetta, they have increased from Rs30 to Rs68 per square foot.
The rate has also been set at Rs79 per square foot for other cities beyond these six major urban centres.
These updated rates are applicable when government departments lease commercial buildings from private landlords.
Additionally, ministries and divisions may increase rental rates by up to 5% based on their specific requirements.
For centrally air-conditioned buildings, the rental rates will see a 25% increase above the standard limit.
