On the eve of Independence Day, the federal government announced cuts in the prices of petroleum products, presenting them as a gift to the citizens. The petrol price has been lowered by Rs 8.47, setting the new rate at Rs 260.96 per litre. High-speed diesel sees a reduction of Rs 6.07, bringing it down to Rs 266.07 per litre.

Earlier in the day, reports anticipated a decrease of Rs 11 for petrol and Rs 7 for diesel per litre. These changes will take effect starting Thursday, August 14th.

This reduction in fuel prices is seen as positive news for consumers, potentially driving down transportation and production costs nationwide.

The government also reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the next fortnight by Rs 6.17 and Rs 10.86, respectively. Following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Finance issued a notification detailing the new pricing: petrol at Rs 269.43 per litre and diesel at Rs 272.77 per litre.
