The federal government has announced a nine-day winter holiday for educational institutions under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
According to an official notification, all FDE-run schools and colleges will observe winter vacations from December 26, 2025, to January 3, 2026.
The directive applies to Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges, as well as former Federal Government Colleges in both urban and rural areas of the capital. The FDE has shared the notification with heads of all relevant institutions.
Academic activities will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026, as confirmed in the notification. The FDE also announced that Saturday, January 10, 2026, will serve as a working day. Administrative, teaching, and non-teaching staff will report for duty to complete priority tasks.

Earlier, the Sindh government declared public holidays for the Christian community. As per an official notification, the provincial government announced a holiday on December 25 to mark Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. Authorities also declared a partial holiday on December 26 for Christian employees.
All government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions under the Sindh government will remain closed on December 25. Essential service staff will remain exempt from the closure.

The Sindh government circulated the notification to all concerned federal and provincial departments. These included the Sindh High Court, police, administrative secretaries, commissioners, and deputy commissioners for implementation and record.
