The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) announced on Friday that it will abolish the Saturday holiday for Islamabad’s educational institutions from November 30, 2024, to February 1, 2025.
A notification explained that the recent closure of educational centres, notably during the PTI’s three-day protest, severely disrupted regular academic activities. As a result, the FDE has decided to remove the Saturday holiday across all institutions, including schools and colleges.
FDE officials clarified that this adjustment compensates for the educational time lost due to prolonged holidays and unexpected closures. “This change is essential for ensuring students meet their instructional requirements and adhere to their syllabus timelines,” the notification stated.
This new schedule will be effective from November 30, 2024, to February 1, 2025.
