Islamabad: The Pakistan Army has conducted precision air and ground strikes on key Afghan Taliban strongholds in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, killing dozens of militants, according to security officials on Wednesday.
At the same time, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) announced a 15-day extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns for the 2025 tax year. The FBR’s new notification states that taxpayers can now submit their income tax returns until October 31. The previous deadline was October 15, following an earlier two-week extension granted in late September.
According to the FBR, the decision came after requests from trade bodies, taxpayers, and tax bar associations seeking additional time to complete their filings. Officials said the extension aims to facilitate taxpayers and ensure maximum compliance with tax regulations.

Earlier this month, the FBR removed the “estimated market value” column from the 2025 income tax return form. The move followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directions to simplify the filing process and make compliance easier for citizens.
Authorities said the change would reduce confusion for filers and encourage timely submission of returns. The FBR reaffirmed its commitment to improve digital filing systems and enhance taxpayer services through transparency and accessibility.
