A bus crash on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near Kallar Kahar resulted in the death of at least 10 people and injuries to 25 others today, as reported by rescue teams and law enforcement officials.
Farooq Ahmed, the spokesperson for Rescue 1122, affirmed the casualty count, noting the possibility of a rise in the numbers.
Meanwhile, a statement released by the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) suggested that preliminary investigations identified brake failure as the cause of the accident involving a bus traveling from Islamabad to Lahore.
Emergency services were transporting the injured to a nearby hospital for medical attention. NHMP personnel were also reported to be onsite, assisting in rescue efforts under the oversight of DIG (Motorway) Mohammad Yusuf Malik and sector commander, Commander Nafri.
According to the NHMP, two motorways were shut down due to the accident, while a third remained operational for traffic.
