Faisal Vawda, a former federal minister and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), referred to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as “Buzdar II” during an interaction with the media in Karachi.
Vawda drew parallels between Maryam and Usman Buzdar, the former Punjab CM criticized for governance issues, who assumed office upon Imran Khan’s insistence despite intra-party objections.
Vawda criticized Imran Khan, the PTI founder, for his disputes with the establishment, recounting unsuccessful attempts to guide him. He humorously suggested that Khan might as well establish governance on the moon, urging him to abandon confrontational politics for a more democratic approach, especially in light of the controversies surrounding the May 9 incidents.
He also reflected on his expulsion from PTI during its height of popularity, which was attributed to his outspokenness. Looking ahead, challenges for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur post-Ramadan.
Announcing his intention to run in the Senate elections, Vawda acknowledged the unpredictability of outcomes, referencing his extensive political career and the persistent issue of horse trading within Pakistani politics.
Responding to inquiries about his political alliances, Vawda expressed willingness to collaborate with President Asif Ali Zardari, emphasizing his strategic decision not to participate in the elections due to the transient nature of the current government, which he estimates could last up to two and a half years.
