With the solar eclipse scheduled for April 8, which will traverse North America, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned about potential air traffic delays and disruptions.
The solar eclipse celestial event will journey across Mexico, the United States, and Canada, initiating above the South Pacific Ocean and affecting U.S. territories between approximately 1830 and 1940 UTC.
The FAA advises pilots to anticipate operational adjustments and increased airport traffic, particularly at locations along the eclipse’s trajectory, from April 7 to 10.
According to a report by Obsev, airports including Burlington International, Syracuse Hancock International, Indianapolis International, Fort Wayne, Cleveland Hopkins International, Buffalo Niagara International, and Austin-Bergstrom International may experience significant impacts.
The eclipse’s path of totality, encompassing a swath 50 nautical miles wide, is expected to cross several states from Texas to Maine, impacting hundreds of airports.
