A devastating explosion within a residential property in Kot Addu left five dead and three injured on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Daira Deen Panah area, as reported by Express News. The victims were promptly moved to a local hospital for treatment.
According to a police spokesperson, the explosion occurred at a homemade junk shop. Security personnel are currently investigating the exact cause of the blast. The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Bilal, Haseena Mai, Shanu Mai, and Sadia Bibi.
Upon hearing of the incident, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, requested a full report from local police. He stated that strict legal action will be taken once the event’s circumstances were understood.
In a separate yet similarly tragic event in Rawalpindi, a gas cylinder explosion in a residential building resulted in the death of a teenager and injuries to eight other residents, including women and children. One injured, suffering from 80% burns, is reportedly in critical condition. The force of the blast led to the partial collapse of the two-story building on Street 62.
