As Super Bowl LIX draws near, anticipation is high as the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles prepare to battle for the NFL championship title.
As fans look forward to the showdown at the Superdome in New Orleans, FOX reporter Erin Andrews encounters an unforeseen obstacle just days ahead of the major event.
In a recent interview with Athletech News, Andrews disclosed that she is among the 38 million individuals affected by dry eye disease. This condition causes irritation and discomfort, which is frustrating for the experienced reporter.
Andrews shared her initial confusion about the symptoms, stating, “I thought it was because my eyes were tired. I thought maybe it was because I look at the screen a lot; my eyes always feel a little irritated, grainy. I’m always cleaning them or trying to blink. I thought that was it. It turns out I’m an idiot, and my doctor said, ‘No, it’s dry eye.’”
Despite the discomfort, Andrews has found a solution to manage her condition: a prescription eye drop that alleviates her symptoms. She encouraged others experiencing similar issues to seek medical advice, saying, “If you’re constantly rubbing your eyes or squinting or thinking, ‘Oh, my eyes are super dry or irritated,’ ask someone about it because there is something that can relieve your symptoms.”
Will She Miss the Super Bowl?
Fortunately, Andrews confirmed she is 100% ready to cover the Super Bowl. Her dedication to the job and her passion for football makes it unlikely that anything short of a major setback would keep her away from the event.
Andrews will join the FOX broadcast team with Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt, providing fans with thorough game coverage.
