Following the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, it was widely rumored that Elong Musk laid off several employees of Twitter.
Several media agencies and news channels waited outside Twitter’s head offices; some fell for a practical joke featuring a fictitious Twitter employee named Rahul Ligma and Daniel Johnson.
Ligma and Johnson carrying cardboard boxes looked to be leaving Twitter’s headquarters with their things.
Dierdre Bosa, a reporter with CNBC, was among the reporters duped by the ruse.
“It is occurring. The whole group of data engineers was laid off. These are two examples. They are uncomfortable. “Daniel informs us he has a Tesla but has no way to make payments,” Bosa tweeted.
Social media users instantly recognized the pun in the names of the two pranksters after sharing the video extensively.
Elon Musk replied to a tweet alleging that actors manipulated the media.
Musk stated, “Ligma Johnson had it coming.”
Bosa later issued an apology and removed the initial post.
Regarding Friday at Twitter HQ, I did not do enough to confirm, and I apologize for the error.
Recently, the same individual masquerading as Rahul Ligma claimed he was terminated from the insolvent cryptocurrency platform FTX and the data engineering staff at FTX’s headquarters in the Bahamas.
Ligma stated in the video, “This is my second job in a month, so it’s quite difficult.” “Web2 chewed me up and spat me out; I sincerely believed that Web3 would be different.”
Ligma stated that he had just relocated to the Bahamas, where “everything changed rapidly.”
The “employee” stated that he was interested in fresh prospects and “hoping for the best in the future.”
