Eight Pakistanis among last 32 at world 6-Reds snooker

Karachi: Eight Pakistan players out of 14 stepped into the last 32-round of the world men’s 6-Reds snooker event at the end of group fixtures at hotel Movenpick on Sunday.

The eight cueists include Mohammad Sajjad, Shahram Changezi, Babar Masih, Mohammad Asif, Shahid Aftab, Mohammad Majid Ali, Asjad Iqbal and Khurram Agha.

According to the format, a total of 42 players — top three from the 14 groups — advanced into the knock out round.

Twenty two players were given bye and directly placed into the 32-round on the basis of their performance while the remaining 20 players will play another round with 10 winners joining the fray of qualified players.

Pakistan’s two more players – Mohammad Bilal and Mohammad Asif Toba – were among those players who will play the knock out round of last 42.

Indian cueist Dharminder Lilly was seeded on the top in the re-seeding. He is followed by two home players Sajjad and Shahram.

World champion Yan Bingtao has been seeded seventh in the reseeding while defending champion Pankaj Advani was re-seeded 12th. The former has won 16 frames and lost eight in the four games while the latter had won 18 and lost 10 in four matches.

The matches of the last-32 round will be played on Monday starting 10am.
