Five armed gunmen stormed into Edhi welfare centre in Kharadar, area of Lyari, today.
According to Police, the robbers held hostage Abdul Satter Edhi and staff of the centre and took away millions of rupees.
Police is investigating the matter and case has also been registered at Methadar Police Station in Lyari.
According to Edhi spokesperson, robbers made off approximately 5kg of gold and foreign currency.
Unfortunately, there were no security guards present in the welfare centre at the time of the incident and neither were any CCTV cameras installed.
The police have collected finger prints from the robbery sight and have begun further investigation into the matter.
