With the political atmosphere in Pakistan heating up, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is gearing up to announce the schedule for the anticipated general elections on December 14.
The elections are set for February 8 of the following year, and political parties are actively campaigning to fortify their standings.
The ECP has completed the final list of delimitations, a crucial step before declaring the election dates. They are now in the process of assigning district returning officers and other officials following the Elections Act, of 2017.
Lists of government officers nominated for election duties have been submitted, with training on election protocols to follow their formal appointments.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has highlighted the ECP’s readiness for the upcoming elections, marking the successful printing and distribution of final electoral rolls. With a significant budget allocated by the Finance Division for election preparations, the ECP is dispelling any rumours of election delays.
Raja emphasized the commission’s commitment to security, privacy, and transparency and encouraged public participation in the democratic process on National Voters Day. He also urged citizens to exercise their right to vote with the future of the country and their children in mind.
