The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested political parties to submit their applications for the allocation of election symbols in preparation for the upcoming general elections, anticipated post-October.
The ECP clarified that applications can be accepted until July 19, provided they bear the signature of the party leader.
Parties must attach a prioritised list of election symbols with their applications, and the signature of the party leader on the application is essential.
Furthermore, the ECP emphasised that each application must provide the address of the political party’s head office.
Upon receiving the applications, the ECP will verify the eligibility of the parties.
Additionally, the ECP has directed parties to resubmit the applications previously submitted for the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces in February.
The ECP said that incomplete or faxed applications would not be considered. It further stated that it would not accept applications for symbols submitted before today or after July 19.
The ECP also highlighted that an affidavit, in accordance with Section 206 of the Election Act 2017, is a requisite attachment with the applications.
